Pesky fire ants becoming zombies that die

FORT WORTH -- Some Texas researchers are trying a new weapon against fire ants.
It's an air war with parasitic flies that turn the pesky insects into zombies whose heads fall off.
The tool is the tiny phorid fly, a native to a region of South America where the fire ants in Texas originated.
Researchers have learned that as many as 23 phorid species along with pathogens attack fire ants to keep their population and movements under control.
A Texas A&M study shows fire ants cost the state economy about $1 billion annually by damaging circuit breakers and other electrical equipment. They can also threaten young calves.
So far, four phorid species have been introduced in Texas against the fire ants. University of Texas research associate Rob Plowes said the flies "dive-bomb" the fire ants and lay eggs. The maggot then hatches inside the ant and eats away at the brain. Later, the ant gets up and starts wandering like a zombie for about two weeks before its head falls off.

1. The Beav: (Natural Leader/Tactical Expert)
Weapons: His Team, and his 12 gauge.
Contribution: Awesomeness! Once he gets convinced that Zombies are the new Terrorists he will do what he does best, DESTROY! He is a mix between McGyver, Rambo, and Hannibal from the A-Team. He is fearless and will lead the team all the way to survival, while continuing to maintain perfectly quaffed hair.
2. Scoop (Big Man)
Weapons: His Team, and his 12 gauge.

2. Scoop (Big Man)
Weapons: If it weighs a ton or if it is a Battle Axe, this guy will be using it.
Contribution: He's the big man, therefore he can, and does, hand carry a minigun. He is all about layin down the lead and getting the job done, because until the battle is over he can't take a nap.3. Streaks (The Lover Boy)
Weapons: MP5 as a primary and keeps his 1911 handy when it gets up close and personal.
Contributions: This guy is crazy, and will do whatever it takes to keep his Lady livin. This protective instinct works out great for the team because he will bring her along and she's a cook!
4. Fat Jesus (The New Guy)
Weapons: M4 and a spiked Louisville Slugger.
Contributions: Outstanding marksman, he once picked off a mutant squirrel from 2 miles away! When things get to crazy stops shooting and starts blowin shit up!
5. JV (The Loud Guy)
Weapons: Stealth, when its dark out he blends right into the night.
Contributions: Distractions, and if the occasion presents itself, sacrificial lamb.
6. Action MF Jackson (Still in Training)
Weapons: Samurai Sword and anything with a trigger.
Contributions: We aren't entirely sure what he is going to bring to the team, but so far in his training he is proving to be a maniac with a sword.
